Let me help you find the perfect outfits for your session!
Choosing what you wear to your senior photo shoot is kind of a big deal. After all, anyone who cares about fashion will tell you that what you wear is an expression of who you are.
When selecting your session day outfits, think about what your style sense is and what you envision for the shoot. I highly recommend flipping through fashion magazines, looking at my Pinterest boards and checking out my Instagram page for inspiration. And don’t forget: from head to toe, details matter! Thoughtfully select the perfect shoes, accessories, jewelry and even layering details when putting together your outfits. I always tell my clients to choose a trendy outfit, an outfit that reflects your specific style, an outfit with a college tee, and a classic outfit such as a black or white dress, or grey, black or white suit.
Dressing in layers is also a great way to get the most out of your session. This will help to give you a different look without having to do an entire outfit change. Adding a vest, jacket, or fashion scarf will effortlessly change up your outfit.
When choosing colors, remember that lighter colors tend to accentuate weight, while darker colors have a more slimming effect. Try to select colors that will not clash with each other. Avoid clothing with prints and stick to more solid options. You also want to wear something that YOU are comfortable in and love. Parents usually want to input on what seniors will wear, but parents don’t always have similar styles as their children. So it’s okay to have one outfit that parents choose, but have some that you are happy with as well. This way, everyone will be happy.
Once you have your ensembles selected, take some quick snapshots of yourself and ask others for their thoughts and opinions. This also gives you a chance to feel the outfit on you and determine whether you’d feel comfortable taking photos in it. You also want to try different poses in the outfit. You want to choose something that will allow you a variety of poses. From there, you can make any adjustments or narrow down your selections. Another important tip is to match undergarments to the outfit. For example sticking to nude color undergarments and having the right style of undergarments for the outfit.
Oh, and as your photographer, I want to see pictures of your outfits, too! Not just because I’m dying to see your fabulous fashion sense ASAP, but because knowing what you’ll wear helps me choose session locations, and poses. During your in person consultation, we’ll spend some time talking style! You’ll also get to go through my style closet for additional outfits (This is the fun part)!!. This is all about you, we’re going to make you look — and feel — like a bajillion bucks!
P. S. I do suggest bringing a few backup garments and accessories to the actual photo session. Just in case!
