Senior year has officially started & the celebration has begun! This weekend I worked with Edith, my very first Senior from Donna High School. Edith was so easy to work with and she really rocked her session. Edith wanted to get a fall look into her session, and also wanted a location to match her country gal style. I knew of the perfect place, as soon as she mentioned it.
The Location:
One of my favorite locations is The Hidalgo Pumphouse. It is located in Hidalgo, TX and literally on the Texas border. What I love about this location, is that you get a lot for your entrance fee. I always tell clients that taking photos at the pumphouse is like getting 10 locations in one area. That’s because the pumphouse has so many unique spaces, from large boulders, to creeks, bridges, walkways, concrete slabs and a nice amphitheatre. So whether you are dressing in a formal dress, jeans and heels, boots and skirts, you’ll find an area that will compliment your outfit well. Not to mention the variety in backdrops that you will get for your session.
The Session:
Edith was accompanied by her proud mama, and two besties, making the session extra enjoyable for her. Watching Edith celebrate her senior year was so heartwarming, enough to bring her mom to tears, a usual for moms. Edith booked a 90 minute session which gave us plenty of time to move about the location and allowed her 5 different outfits. Edith was able to use a variety of styles to ensure that she will have plenty of different photos to choose from.
The Wedding:
So I know you’re thinking, “the wedding?!”. Yes, the wedding! When we arrived at the location, we noticed that there were tons of tables and decor set up on the location! After a brief panic, we talked to grounds staff about what spots we’d have available. Luckily, the pumphouse is a large location that still gave us so many options, despite not having a large section to use. The staff members were very kind and allowed us to sneak onto the bridge for 5 minutes while the party was being set up. There’s always a snag in sessions, and this was it for Edith’s. Note to self: call the location prior to make sure that it’ll be available.
The best is yet to come:
Edith still has most of her senior year ahead and she’s looking forward to many more memories. I am super grateful that Edith chose me to share such special memories with and trusted me to bring her senior session vision to life.
Take a look at some photos from her session below!!
The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the little "extra".
I liked it the most when you shared that each senior photo season has distinct clothing styles. My friend wants…
