3 Reasons Why You Should Print Your Photos

We live in a time where almost every memory we capture, lives in our phones, laptops, or a cloud somewhere. Somewhere along the way, we moved away from printing our photos. I miss the days of looking forward to finding a nice frame to display them in and enjoying the memories every time we looked at that photo. These days, most people enjoy digital images because they enjoy displaying them online and sharing with the people they love. And that’s great!! However, what happens to your photos after they’ve received all the likes and continue down the timeline of someone’s Facebook or Instagram page? Do they go into the cloud forever? The answer is probably yes. I’ve heard it time and time again from clients, “I want to print my own photos”. Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but out of all of my clients, I can safely say that about 90% of clients leave their photos in a storage space somewhere, never print them, and honestly, probably never look at them again. I am going to give you 3 reasons why you should consider printing all of your images.

1. Technology isn’t always reliable

I’ve had the personal experience of clients calling me in a panic because their phone has crashed and they’ve lost all of their photos, or they’ve misplaced their USB. Sometimes I’m able to help, but sometimes, files have been forever deleted and are gone forever. Not only are those memories gone, but it’s often difficult to recreate a once in a lifetime session such as a grad session or a prom session. Having prints can be considered a tangible back up of your photos.

2. Enjoying your photos on display makes your session worthwhile

Let’s be honest, photo sessions can be pricey. You buy outfits, accessories, pay to get your hair and makeup done, pay location fees, pay a photographer, all to make sure you capture the absolute best memory of yourself in a very important time. If you’re not displaying your photos to enjoy every time you walk past your living room, or display wall at home, is it all worth all of the spending? Well the answer is up to you, however I believe that you can get so much more out of your session if you display your photos for everyone to enjoy on a daily basis.

3. You can enjoy your photos for generations and generations to come

I know that during this time of your life, you may not be thinking about generations down the road. You’re probably just trying to focus on getting to college, or landing your dream career. Time flies by, and by the time you know it, you’re married with children living a whole adult life. We honestly don’t even know how much technology may change by then, and whether you’ll even have access to your photos anymore. Having prints of your photos will be a great gift to show your children, pass on to them, and they pass on to their children. I cannot picture your children logging into your old Instagram account to view your photos. Instagram or the cloud may not even exist 10 years from now, so once again prints are so important to keeping your memories alive.

Printing your photos is easy. Whether you purchase them straight from your gallery, find an online lab or take them to your local lab, is all your choice. Prints are now very affordable and can be printed quickly. My personal favorite print product has been the photobook! Having all of your session images in once place, bound, with bright colors and soft covers, is the best way to enjoy your photos in my opinion.

Next time you receiving your digital files, please consider printing them. I can always help you if you need any suggestions on how to get started.
